About Vijay

From Agra to the Pacific — a life measured in trust

The story of a Chartered Accountant who turned a small practice into four decades of enterprise, advisory and service across two countries.

Vijay Kumar Gupta was born and educated in Agra, where the disciplines that would shape a lifetime — rigour, patience, and an unshakeable regard for one’s word — took root early. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and in 1986 opened the doors to his own practice.

What began as statutory and audit work grew, through the 1990s, into something far broader. He audited enterprises across India, advised on corporate consulting assignments, and developed a method that clients returned to again and again: clear-eyed analysis, delivered without theatre, and standing behind every number.

The new century brought infrastructure. As India embraced public–private partnerships, Vijay found himself structuring and reviewing BOT and DBFOT road projects, advising on financing, and carrying that expertise across borders — to Nepal, Iran and Afghanistan — on assignments that tested both technical depth and steadiness under pressure.

Canada opened the next chapter. Settling in Vancouver, he earned his CPA and CMA designations and continued his infrastructure advisory through Canada Infrastructure & Overseas Inc., building a bridge between the markets he knew in India and the opportunities he found on the Pacific coast.

But the work that may outlast all of it is the work he was never paid for. He founded the British Columbia Chapter of ICAI, gave his time to neighbourhood houses and community organizations, served on strata boards, and quietly mentored newcomers finding their footing in a new country. Service, for Vijay, was never a footnote to a career — it was a second vocation.

I have spent forty years signing my name to the work of others. You learn quickly that a signature is only worth the integrity behind it.
